Seems odd that our Australian troops can have an "allegiance, obedience, or adherence to a foreign power", but if PM Rudd or any other government members try that, they'll GET THE SACK! Australia will buy 14 of the jets from the US and may purchase up to 100, but the Pentagon said on Monday the price - as much as $100 million each - would rise. (SMH) Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has backed a US-led offensive against the Taliban in southern Afghanistan. Operation Mushtarak, which involves 15,000 troops, aims to clear the Marjah district of Taliban insurgents and re-establish Afghan sovereignty and civil services. "Allied forces, British, American, Afghan, in the centre of Helmand province, have launched a major offensive," Mr Rudd told Network Ten on Sunday. The prime minister said Australian troops had a responsibility to train up the local military before leaving the country.
