EFA brands Conroy’s attacks ‘cowardly’

(ARNET) The Electronic Frontiers Australia (EFA) chairman has branded Communications Minister, Senator Stephen Conroy, ‘cowardly’ for his attacks on the Internet rights advocacy group. Senator Conroy has lashed out at the EFA two days in a row during a Senate hearing, claiming the group is waging a campaign of misinformation on the proposed mandatory ISP-level filter. read more

What a joke! Remember when Conboy Conroy started out on this $128.5 million filter plan all Australian's have to pay for, whether or not they use the internet? He originally claimed it was only to filter child porn / pedophilia. Lying hypocrite Conroy has since increased the filter list to include content that has nothing to do with pedophilia.

Conroy won't hand over NBN study

(SMH) Communications Minister Stephen Conroy has snubbed a Senate order, requiring him to hand over an implementation study into the national broadband network. Australian Greens' senator Scott Ludlam successfully moved a motion in the upper house last week, calling on Senator Conroy to release the report by Wednesday. Almost three hours after the deadline lapsed, the minister announced the government had received the report - on March 5 - but would not be handing it over. Conroy suggested ALP staffer for NBN job

(SMH) A former Labor powerbroker being paid $450,000 a year as the NBN Co's government relations point man was recommended for the job by Communications Minister Stephen Conroy. Mike Kaiser took up the role with the NBN Co - which will build and operate the $43 billion national broadband network - after quitting as Queensland Premier Anna Bligh's chief of staff last year. The appointment of Mr Kaiser, who will earn more than the prime minister, has raised allegations of political interference on the part of Senator Conroy. read more
