"POLICE have taken DNA samples from almost 1300 children earmarked as the next generation of criminals.[...] But civil libertarians have accused the police and State Government of giving up on Queensland's youth and focusing more on convictions than on rehabilitation. Civil Liberties Australia chief executive Bill Rowlings said it was an infringement of civil rights because, while the law ensured a child's criminal record was not carried through into adulthood, it would not stop their DNA remaining in criminal databases indefinitely. Not sure about those rip off "Mars Bars" but WA Police were wanting to charge a 12 year old over a "70c Freddo Frog" Some argue that holding a childs DNA even after that child has become an adult and "given a second chance" doesn't sound too bad. With the big new world order policy nanny state picture in mind, this smacks of a kosher created fantasy film called "Minority Report" where future crime is delt with before it happens. (or not) Bill Rowlings may not know (yet) that since about 1975 DNA has been taken from Australian children no matter if a crime has happened. (or not) learn more
